THE SPRACHER FAMILY

DAVID'S STORY

David is an adorably funny and bright boy who lives in South Carolina with his parents, his little brother, and his dog. He loves trains, Legos, vehicles, books, preschool, and his family and friends.

David turned 4 on April 21, 2014. At his annual check-up that day, his pediatrician felt a mass in his abdominal area. An ultrasound determined that he had bilateral Wilms' tumor, a kidney cancer that primarily affects children. By April 25, David was already receiving his first chemotherapy treatment.

David's treatment began right away with a 12-week course of chemotherapy. CT scans showed some shrinkage of his kidney tumors and that a small spot on his lung was gone. Praise!

In July 2014, David underwent surgery to remove his tumors. Doctors removed his right kidney but were able to save about half of his left kidney. David then underwent a week of daily radiation treatments and a second round of chemo through October.

In November 2014, post-treatment scans showed no sign of cancer and doctors declared David to be in remission. Praise God! David currently continues to receive scans every 3 months and labs drawn every month to check his status. He is enjoying preschool and looking forward to a trip to Disney World with his family, courtesy of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. David has handled each step of his treatment with amazing bravery. You can read more about his journey on CaringBridge.org.

David's family is so grateful for the tremendously generous outpouring of love, support, and prayers they have been receiving. This website is created to bring together in one easy spot all of the information about David and how you can help. We thank you for taking a moment of your day to visit. Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated!
